The Afloat Abuja Depot Construction Works was one of the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects of the specialized aircraft fueling depot developed for Afloat Limited at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV) in Abuja.
Developer / Owner: Afloat Limited (an indigenous downstream aviation fueling firm).
Facility Type: On-site Jet A-1 Aviation Fuel Depot & Refueling Terminal.
Location: Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Complex, Abuja, Nigeria.
Primary Scope: Full turn-key development including civil works, mechanical tank fabrication, product filtration systems, loading gantry infrastructure, and Quality Assurance/Control testing units.
Bulk Aviation Tank Capacity: Construction and installation of dedicated Jet A-1 vertical storage tanks, expanding regional fixed airport storage capacity to 1,000,000 liters (1,000 m³ / ~2,250 m³ system project scale).
Tank Shell & Internal Coating: Epoxy-lined carbon steel specialized for Jet A-1 specifications to prevent fuel degradation and particulate contamination.
Reception & Unloading Bay: Dedicated discharge manifolds and receiving bays designed for high-volume bridging tankers.
Filtration & Water Separation Units: Integration of multi-stage filter water separators (FWS) and micro-filters complying with Joint Inspection Group (JIG) aviation standards.
Pumping Station & Loading Gantry: High-flow Jet A-1 transfer pumps for rapid loading of airfield refuellers (bowsers) and direct hydrant interface.
Containment & Bunding: Reinforced concrete secondary bund walls with oil-water separator drainage systems for spill prevention and environmental compliance.
On-Site Recertification Laboratory: Quality control lab facilities equipped for density testing, conductivity checks, and water detection before fuel dispatch.
Depot Firefighting Infrastructure: Deluge water spray systems, foam monitors, and automated emergency shut-off valves (ESD).
